Pablo Camarillo has become a member of our Research Support team. He will be working as a Research Engineer under the supervision of Pierre Francois, Research Assistant Professor at the Madrid-based Institute. He will work on a project funded by Cisco Systems aimed at improving IP Routing in Internet Service Provider (ISP) networks.

The project – named ‘SEARCHLIGHT’ – responds to the challenge posed by the massive growth of wireless Internet traffic, probably the most remarkable communications phenomenon of recent years.

Joerg Widmer, Research Professor at IMDEA Networks, has been one of the three selected keynote speakers at the thirteenth International Conference on Ad-Hoc Networks and Wireless, ADHOC-NOW 2014.  The event, which focuses on presentations and discussions about ongoing experimental and theoretical research on wireless and mobile computing, took place in Benidorm, Spain, from the 22nd to the 27th of June, 2014.

Internship Students who joined IMDEA Networks for 6 months thanks to the Telefónica Talentum Startups initiative have concluded the Institute’s internship program, during which they have also collaborated with researchers from University Carlos III of Madrid. The students have received tutored practical training at the same time as performing tasks to support advanced research projects in the field of information and communications technology (ICT).

A group of four Spanish researchers, amongst which IMDEA Networks is represented, has developed a model for online resource search based on modified random walks in order to accelerate results outcome. The new mechanisms achieve reductions of up to 90% in the average length of searches made with conventional random walks.

Elisa Rojas has become a member of our research team. She will occupy the position of Post-Doc Researcher from June 2014. Her main areas of scientific interest currently lie in routing, bridging, Ethernet, data centers and Software Defined Networking.

The CROWD research project in the strategic domain of future communication and ICT services infrastructures has been selected by the European Commission (EC) to join the group of "early 5G precursor projects". As such, it will contribute to the early showcasing of potential technologies for the future ubiquitous, ultra-high bandwidth “5G” infrastructure. The project has been included in the list of demonstrations at the European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC) organized by the EC in June 2014, in Italy.
