IMDEA Networks Institute is proud to announce that Dr. Vincenzo Mancuso has been appointed Research Associate Professor at the Institute. He joined the research team in 2010 in the role of Research Assistant Professor, and his outstanding track record in his previous role has now been rewarded him with this promotion.
When joining the Institute in 2010, Dr. Vincenzo Mancuso brought to the research team extensive experience in areas such as wireless networks and energy efficient network protocols. He is considered a very talented and valuable scientist with a proactive and novel approach to scientific challenges.
Vincenzo Mancuso has published more than 60 journal articles, conference and workshop papers, including various contributions to top journals and magazines (IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and Computer Networks, and IEEE JSAC among others) as well as leading international conferences in his field (IEEE INFOCOM, ACM e-Energy, IEEE WoWMoM, and IEEE ICC just to mention some).
As group leader of the Opportunistic Architectures Lab he is currently involved in various research projects: Flex5GWare, MONROE, HyperAdapt, Tigres5-CM, and NOTRE. Other past research projects at IMDEA Networks that he has worked on include CROWD, iJOIN, FLAVIA and E2NET.
Dr. Mancuso's research focuses on performance analysis, design and prototyping of Device-to-Device (D2D) communication schemes, context-aware mechanisms for mobile devices, scheduling and inter-cell interference management in cellular data networks, and energy-efficient communications in data centers.
Before joining IMDEA Networks, Dr. Mancuso held a post-doctoral position with MAESTRO, a project team under the Institut national de recherche en informatique et automatique (INRIA) located at the Sophia Antipolis technology park in France and conducted research in cellular networking. Previously he has held post-doctoral positions at the University of Palermo (Italy), Rice University (Texas), and the University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy), covering areas such as satellite communications and wireless mesh networking. As regards his academic background, he received a M.Sc. in Electronics from the University of Palermo, Italy, in 2001, and a Ph.D. in Electronics, Computer Science and Telecommunications from the same University in 2005.
