NETCOM Research Group

 This project focuses on common research problems and methodologies across diverse hot network technologies.  It is a joint effort by research groups of Universidad de Vigo, Universida Politécnica de Cartagena and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Specifically, we study conceptual and methodological issues (physical interface, error management, medium access, routing, traffic control, network interconnection, cross-layer interactions…) as “horizontal” aspects of “vertical” technologies (high performance switching, UMTS, wireless networks…). As a result, we establish synergies to take advantage of the experience of the partners, in order to offer solutions to problems associated with emerging technologies. Consequently, we perform our research in specific technologies but we exploit the multidisciplinary teams by setting cross-relations among those emergent technologies we are interested in, so as to solve the common scientific problems.
