IMDEA Networks Institute is proud to announce that Dr. Vincenzo Mancuso has been appointed Research Associate Professor at the Institute. He joined the research team in 2010 in the role of Research Assistant Professor, and his outstanding track record in his previous role has now been rewarded him with this promotion.

Monday 25th January University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M) opened its doors for future students eager to learn about the specific entrance exams and conditions for various academic degrees. IMDEA Networks was invited to participate in the round table session in order to present the institute’s various research areas and projects to future engineering students at the university.

With e-commerce now exceeding 1 trillion USD per annum, the sharing economy on the rise, and the emergence of the Internet of Things, the need for reliable and user-friendly authentication and authorization mechanisms is more pressing than ever. Researchers from IMDEA Networks are collaborating in the newly launched ReCRED – a research project that aims to improve end user internet security using the mobile as an authorization proxy.

Elizaveta Dubrovinskaya is the newest member of the IMDEA Networks research team. She will be working as a PhD Student from October 2015, as part of the Ubiquitous Wireless Networks Group led by Dr. Paolo Casari, Research Assistant Professor at IMDEA Institute, who will also be her PhD supervisor.

The agreement has been signed by representatives from the Spanish public administration, academic organizations and private companies in a joint commitment to boost 5G technologies. Telefónica is also one of the cofounders of 5TONIC, the first laboratory of excellence focusing on 5G technologies in Spain, together with IMDEA Networks. Ericsson is the first technological company that has joined the project within the framework of its program known as 5G for Europe – a program that aims to strengthen the competitiveness of European industry.
