The IFEMA LAB 5G presented its first prototypes at FITUR 2018 (17-21 January 2018). This lab was created by IFEMA and the 5G innovation laboratory 5TONIC, founded by Telefónica, IMDEA Networks Institute and ERICSSON, to identify a series of applications for tourism and trade show management. The apps have been developed to deploy their functionalities with 5G technology (still in the process of standardization) in the near future.

On January 21st concluded the 38th edition of FITUR, where the latest proposals, destinations and news of World tourism have been announced. The Spanish top TV program 'Informe Semanal' visited the fair to analyze the application of technology at the service of tourism and made a stop at the IFEMA LAB 5G.

Adán Levy, director of IFEMA LAB 5G, the first R&D laboratory for 5G prototypes for the tourism and trade fair sector, has explained to RTVE, in reference to FITUR 2018, that the project of which he is at the forefront is "working on an augmented fair concept". "Basically, what we want is to improve the experience of all agents working at a fair, and also the visitor, optimizing their experience," he said.
