The international community IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force), one of the largest communities of network designers, operators, vendors and researchers, who agree the standard and evolution of Internet architecture and protocols, has named Dr. Bagnulo, Professor at the University of Carlos III, Madrid, and associate of the International Networks Research Institute, IMDEA Networks, as the new Chairman of the MEXT Working Group from November 2007.

IETF is the international organisation responsible for internet engineering. Made up of numerous experts from all over the world, it is divided into working groups, who jointly reach a consensus on the standardisation of architectures, protocols and all issues relating to the web. The MEXT group is responsible for the standardisation of IP mobility protocols, of which Marcelo Bagnulo has been elected Chairman. Since last month, Bagnulo, together with Julien Laganier, manages this working community, which has already commenced meetings to standardise the latest version, IPv6.

Bagnulo, Uruguayan, aged 35 and married, has been living in Madrid for several years. He graduated as an Engineer from the University of the Republic of Uruguay and later as a Doctor in Communications Technologies from the University of Carlos III, Madrid.
