The main objective of this project is to develop new mechanisms that allow fulfilling the requirements specific to the provision of real-time multimedia services in information-centric networking (ICN) architectures. In this respect, the project (1) encompasses the design of advanced caching and buffer management schemes, (2) the design of a resource management framework to provide QoS support, and (3) the design of new multimedia service architectures that can take advantage of these and other mechanisms to enhance the end-user experience in an ICN environment. This project addresses a clean-slate research on multimedia networking under information-centric future Internet architectures. This research will result in the development of a set of mechanisms to overcome the requirements of multimedia content delivery in this scenario. As this specific type of content is expected to become prominent in the near future, we envision that the results of this project will be of particular interest to the researchers and users of the future Internet.
