Information Centric NetworksToday the Internet, as we know it, stands as an increasingly important element in every societal domain. Never before have people (and machines) had such an amount of potential content at their fingertips (or interfaces), and different ways to share it. This is creating the demand for novel and more forward-looking ways of sharing that content, ways which traverse the original architectural design of the Internet. New concepts, such as Information Centric Networking (ICN), have recently surfaced to target these new on-line utilisation scenarios. However, as much as these new concepts have the potential to become an answer to such scenarios, other novel and different utilisation challenges will follow. This vicious cycle demands that ICN solutions become truly flexible solutions, considering as well proper integration and support of the future generations of Internet utilisation. This presentation focuses on upcoming scenarios where the impact of ICN architectures is still incipient, identifying challenges and early realisations.

About Daniel Corujo

Currently working as a Research Fellow for the University of Aveiro, Portugal, associated to the Advanced Telecomunications and Networks Group (http://atnog.av.it.pt - ATNoG) in the Telecommunications Institute of Aveiro, Portugal, Daniel Corujo currently co-coordinates mobility-related research actions at the group, proposing, elaborating and participating in different international research projects, fulfilling different research, technical and management roles.
