Héctor Cordobés de la Calle and Luis Felipe Chiroque, two members of the IMDEA Networks research team, have received the Award to the Best Solution Approach (Premio al Mejor Enfoque de Solución), at the Artificial Intelligence Hackathon 2016. They also came second on the Best Statistical Model category.  
5G Start-up Competition

Data Science Awards

Héctor Cordobés de la Calle, a research engineer at IMDEA Networks Institute, has received an Honorable Mention at the Data Science Awards Spain 2016 in the category of Best Data Scientist in Data Engineering. He is one of over 300 data scientists to have participated in the first Big Data awards ever to be given in Spain.

The ETSI Centre for Testing and Interoperability will be organizing its first NFV PlugtestsTM event from the 23rd of January to the 3rd of February 2017. The test sessions will be hosted by the 5TONIC Laboratory, which is headquartered at IMDEA Networks Institute, in Madrid (Spain).
Widmer and Steinmetz

Dr. Joerg Widmer, Research Professor and Research Strategy Manager at IMDEA Networks Institute, is currently a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. As part of this fellowship he has been a guest of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ralf Steinmetz at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in Technische Universität Darmstadt, engaging in Mobile Communication Networks research and pushing joint scientific projects forward.

5TONIC and IMDEA Networks Institute are pleased to announce that Artesyn Embedded Technologies has joined 5TONIC, the first 5G laboratory in Spain. Founded a year ago by experts from Telefonica and the research institute IMDEA Networks, 5TONIC exists as an open ecosystem for innovation and research based in Madrid, which also counts, amongst its growing membership, with Intel, Ericsson Spain, CommScope, Cohere Technologies and University Carlos III of Madrid.

Ander Galisteo Zabalo has become a member of our research team. He will be working as a PhD Student from September 2016 within the Pervasive Wireless Systems Group led by Dr. Domenico Giustiniano. His main areas of interest are Wireless Networks and Communications, Visible Light Communications and the Internet of Things.
